Arlington County is a thriving urban village full of great neighborhoods offering a variety of experiences to residents and visitors alike. We have watched as over the last several years, neighborhoods such as Rosslyn and Ballston have undergone incredible redevelopment plans to keep the area enlivened and updated as a thriving place to be for living, playing and working. Now it isShirlington Crescent’s turn. The county has recently begun the process of a detailed community planning project with community members seeking the best ways to redevelop the area that includes part of the Four Mile Run corridor and Shirlington Road.

This is not a new idea, however. Arlington County began to look into the need to redevelop the area back in 2014 with a study that outlined about 95 acres along Four Mile Run Drive and Shirlington Road which would be ideal to focus on. Now it is time for the county and the community to come together and formulate a specific plan. Many residents of Shirlington Crescent want to update aspects of the area, creating a new cluster of cultural and industrial resources for Arlington County. Both the county and residents are excited at the prospect of getting the plans begun.
